It is a geek-out weekend for me. I am attending the iPhoneDevCamp held over at Adobe Systems, San Francisco. The event is the second of its kind, a not-for-profit gathering to develop applications for iPhone and iPod Touch.
I never had a go at coding application for the iPhone. Figured this would be a good opportunity to do that and get some hands-on experience on iPhone development.
Unlike me, most of the attendees seemed to be a lot more prepared and rearing to go. A lot of my time is spent juggling between flipping a book I bought to learn Objective-C and scanning through the massive collection of materials at the iPhone Dev Center. For the non-nerds, Objective-C is the programming language used to develop iPhone apps.
I went with the mindset to have fun learning something new and I sure did.
For a free event, the iPhoneDevCamp is impressive. There are tons of free schwag: t-shirts, stickers, iPhone protective casing etc. Food and drinks are provided throughout the event while the attendees worked on their project. You could either come with your own team or pair up with people that you meet. App demos are scheduled at last day of the camp, from 2 - 5 PM. Looking forward to see the apps that people come up with over these 2 days!
Excuse me while I get back to my "Hello World" iPhone native app.

Where do you think they got all the money to organise the event? Is there any angel investor involved?

As far as I can tell, most of the funding came from the sponsors of the event.
